nine
Palestinians
were
detained
during
overnight
raids
in
the
West
Bank,
with
Palestinain
security
sources
confirming
the
detention
of
two
men
in
raids
on
Nablus.
Israeli
sources
said
the
nine
were
"wanted,"
and
noted
two
of
the
men
were
from
Nablus,
two
from
Ramallah,
and
five
from
Bethlehem.
They
were
all
taken
for
questioning,
the
report
said.
Nablus
Palestinian
security
sources
said
several
Israeli
vehicles
stormed
Nablus
from
the
Huwwara
military
checkpoint
at
1:30am,
entering
several
neighborhoods
and
ultimately
detaining
Asid
Al-Juneid
from
the
Kamal
Jenblat
area,
and
Khalil
Abdul
Aziz
Jebrin
from
Rafedia.
Beit
Ummar
In
the
Bethlehem-area
town
of
Beit
Ummar,
Spokesman
of
Palestinian
solidarity
project
Muhammad
Ayyad
Awad
said
four
were
detained
and
the
home
of
60-year-old
Muhsen
Awad
was
raided,
its
owner
beaten
and
his
identity
card
stolen.
After
the
beating,
the
man's
35-year-old
son
was
detained.
According
to
Awad,
soldiers
also
stole
800
shekels
in
cash
from
the
home.
Three
others
were
detained,
identified
as
Jamal
Ibrahim
Ikhlil,
18,
Allam
Baraghith
18
and
Muhammad
Sleiby,
25.
Awad
said
the
troops
used
dogs
to
search
several
homes
near
the
village
entrance,
and
remained
in
the
area
for
four
hours.
Ni'lin
A
third
raid
overnight
targeted
the
village
of
Ni'lin,
north
of
Ramallah.
According
to
the
village's
popular
committee,
the
3am
military
incursion
was
the
15th
in
the
past
month
aimed
at
"apprehending
Palestinian
anti-Wall
activists."
Anti-wall
protest
organizers
said
the
"arrests
are
a
continuation
of a
concerted
assault
on
the
popular
struggle
movement
and
its
leadership."
Witnesses
said
dozens
of
Israeli
soldiers
entered
the
village,
detaining
Mustafa
Amirah,
50,
only
after
they
could
not
locate
his
son.
The
committee
did
not
identify
the
other
two
it
said
were
detained.
