On
September 28, 2000 Ariel Sharon walked into Masjid Al-Aqsa Mosque
with thousands
of heavily armed
Israelis.
"He
came bringing with him more Israeli forces than those who
accompanied him when
he occupied the Aqsa Mosque in 1967" said Faisal
Husseini at that time.
Next
day, on Friday when prayers went to pray Israeli military forces and
police were
lying in wait.
They
stormed Al Aqsa, opening fire with powerful bullets on the
worshippers, who
were
throwing stones to defend the Masjid.
At
that time 30 Palestinians were dead and, including seven children
and hundreds
wounded. One particularly shameful incident involved the death of
12-year-old
Muhammad Al-Dura. He was by an Israeli sniper, while his father
tried to protect him
from
the bullets. The Israeli sniper also killed a Palestinian ambulance
driver who tried
to rescue Muhammad and his father.
One
year after the Intifada started as a consequence of the incidents
mentioned above
744 Palestinians were
killed by the Israeli Occupation army.
