SIS Report: 3,531 Palestinians killed, including 752 minors and 39282 others wounded by IOF in 42 Months GAZA, Palestine, April 25, 2004 (IPC)-- Palestinian State Information Service (SIS) confirmed that the Palestinian death toll during 42 months of the Intifada has climbed to 3,531 as 39282 others have been wounded by Israeli occupying forces (IOF) throughout Palestinian cities, towns, villages and refugee camps.
In a report issued by the SIS’s Palestinian National Information Center (PNIC), the killed toll included 572 children, 224 women, 106 sick people lost their lives at the IOF checkpoints, 732 victims have fallen due to Israeli shelling and 243 were assassinated along together of 90 others lost their lives as being happened in the scene by Israeli warplanes, 43 others killed by the Jewish settlers, 30 were the rescue workers, 9 journalists as IOF violated the press about 673 times and sports for 220.
PNIC’s statistical figures showed that 39282 citizens have been wounded by IOF, 8,435 of whom received medications on the spot.
The report pointed out as well that the number of Palestinian prisoners throughout the last 42 months was 7500; among those prisoners were 1252 students and 196 teachers of schools, colleges and universities, as minor prisoners were 336.
The patients afflicted by chronic diseases and arrested by IOF on checkpoints and roadblocks reached 821, as the number of women prisoners reached 82, including 24 sentenced for different prison service terms, and 54 have been in custody with no trial as five others have been under administrative detention.
Material Losses
PNIC’s report signaled out the economic losses caused by IOF ongoing siege and closure during the last 42 months, 570 governmental establishments have been damaged due to being shelled by Israeli fire and 615136 Palestinian houses were partially and completely destroyed, including 5263 completely, 2772 out of which were in Gaza Strip alone. The partially destroyed houses were 56250, among were 16186 in Gaza Strip.
Schools have not been spared the Israeli wanton destruction, as 12 schools and universities have been frequently closed by IOF while 1,125 others, the study were disrupted
302 schools and educational offices as well as universities have come under Israeli fire as 43 other schools have been turned into military outposts.
According to the PNIC, the area of Palestinian lands bulldozed by the IOF was 62,044 dunums, and 202620 dunums were forcibly seized for the construction of the apartheid wall, 91,581 trees have been uprooted, while 457 agricultural stores and 472 poultry pens were destroyed, as 12,892 goats, 840 cows and 9,738 beehives were perished.
Also, the IOF completely demolished 262 water wells and 207 agricultural stores including the killing of 1171,589 broilers, as 22,013 dunums of irrigation nets have been bulldozed, 1,014 water wells and 288,985 meters of farms fences, and 714,719 others of water lines have been destroyed.
The Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian agricultural sector resulted in damages to 10,323 farmers, bulldozing of 5 greenhouses and 12 tractors.
The report said that the number of the totally destroyed industrial establishment s since October 2001 were 8264 workshops as the unemployment rate is in exceed of 60% . The number of the unemployed workers reached 302,000, making up 43.7%, due to the Israeli occupation frequent siege and closure.
The PNIC’s report recorded that the IOF shelled residential and civilian population centers in Palestinian cities, towns, villages and refugee camps, for 25,089 times and placed 2,235 military checkpoints from October 2001 up to present day.
