  • Christians in the Holy Land

The Holy Land is important for Christians all over the world. This land has a special place in

their [Christians] hearts as the people living there.

For Christians in different parts of the world Palestine has a big meaning for them:  it is the

place where Jesus Christ was born, where the Christian faith was born and where it took

place God’s revelation, a place for reverence…

Jerusalem is the place where every single Christian would like to visit at least once in his

life.

Palestine is a country where plenty of churches were erected such as: the Nativity Church,

St. Catherine Church, the Church of the Virgin, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher…

On the other hand, only 2% of the population in Palestine is Christian but if we have an

overlooked we can find that there is a change in demography.

The majority of Christians can be found in Latin America, Asia, Africa…Some researchers

think that this is the result of why the church is less powerful in world terms.

The contribution of Christians to the Holy Land is a fact and we can put it like this: the

church’s contribution to progress, the significance of the place and the people, and the

participation to create programs for peace.

Christians should want to be in solidarity with all those who seek justice and peace in the

land of our Lord.

The total of Christian in Asis and Russia is 3396.5, in Africa 647.5. in Europe 497.7, in

North America 275.9, in South America 448.1 and Oceani 26.5.

The numbers above were taken from the World Almanac 1992.
