The fruits on the panels
are mainly grapes and pomegranates. Grapes are used extensively
on the Al-Aqsa Mosque
panels. occurring mainly in conjunction with vine leaves and used in
different shapes, rounded elongated and trilobed, sometimes
centered around one larger grape. Some of these grapes are
decorated with eyelets, characteristic of the Umayyad style. The
pomegranates on these panels are of two shapes: whole and round or
split into two. The rounded ones are surrounded by a small bunch of
three pointed lobes. When the bulbous fruits is split along its
seeds arranged in rows. The splits are either plain or decorated
with eyelets, characteristic of the Umayyad style.
