Palestinians and Jews can live together because their
common passion for the music.
The
concert that is going to take place in different countries of Europe
is conducted and organized by the famous pianist and director of the orchestra Daniel
Barenboim with the aim
of building understanding through music.
“You
feel the pain that these kids feel and then you think, 'My God, it's
better not to talk about it'," "And then the next day, it is as if the
music washes that all away." Said
Barenboim,
Barenboim was born in Argentina to parents of Jewish-Russian
descent, but
the family moved to
Israel when he was 10 years old and he is an Israeli citizen.
The mixed
Arab-Israeli orchestra was founded in 1999, with the proviso that
all members
must agree that war
will not provide a solution to the Middle East conflict.
38 young Jews and 23 young Arabs from
different countries of the Middle East form the
group. The musicians aged 15 to 25 years old.
One of the concerts will be perform
in Sevilla, Spain a place where Jews, Arabs and
Christians lived for seven centuries together without problems.
“It gives hope for the future that people can see
beyond a gun.”
Explained a 28-year-old
girl native of Lebanon. She added, “ It helps us to
see there are other ways to solve
problems.”
For the director
of the orchestra this is an example the politicians should take as a
formula.
“This is a formula we used to live in peace and live good. When we
play no one can say
if
this is a Jew or if this is a Palestinian. We have the choice to
live in a democratic
country.”
As musicians and creators of culture, we must not wait for
politicians, we must
be
active. "For the Middle East conflict there is no military solution,
neither moral nor
strategic, neither for the Palestinians nor for the Israelis," he
added.
For
many of the musicians of the orchestra this is a prove that Jews and
Palestinians can
live together because the have many things in common.
And one of them is the music.
