- Sabil Bab as-Silsila

It is dated on 22 Rajab
943\4 January 1537. It is situated on the west side of the square
which leads to the Haram. Sultan Sulaiman ordered its construction
along with five other
similar sabils in Jerusalem.
A canal extended from the pools of Sultan Sulaiman- situated about 2
k.m. south of
Bethlehem, used to provide the sabil with the needed water before
entering the Haram.
The sabil is a single-unit structure, it consists of a recessed
niche framed by a pointed
chevron arch. The niche is flanked on each side by a stone
rectangular wall which contained
the elements of the sabil. A reused sarcophagus is used as a trough
to hold the water, it is
placed at the lower part of the sabil. The sabil is no longer in
operation
