Petition to the International Court of Justice Nahum Kurman, Security Chief of a Jewish settlement on Hadar Beitar, smashed the head of 11-year-old Hilmi Shousha while walking home to his West Bank village of Husan on October 1996. While looking for stone-throwing youths, Kurman stumbled across Shousha, and the armed terrorist grabbed the little boy, kicked him to the ground and placing his boot over his neck, smashed his head with the rifle butt. The autopsy in Tel-Aviv revealed that Shousha had died as a result of cerebral hemorrhage because of a smash in the head, according to Radio Israel. In June the following year Kurman was released on bail. He became a free man, though he is a murderer. If convicted he would have faced 20 years in prison. Some children from the Amman National School wrote petitions to the International Court of Justice at the time, demanding legality for such an odious murder .Although they were advised, the following thoughts were made by the students without interference from their teachers.
Chairman of the International court, do you know about the story of Hilmi Shousha? You should judge the Israeli man, Nahum Kurman, because it’s very sad. Doesn’t he imagine that the boy is his child? Nahum Kurman was angry when he heard the Palestinians are throwing stones on the Israelis. If he was his child he would have had a shock. The president of the court should punish the Israelis because they don’t believe in the security of the child. Children have rights and they should respect this situation of the Palestinians or any child in the world.
I heard about the story of Hilmi Shousha. It’s very sad. It happened last week in Husan. This child was carrying a roc sac and three of his friends were not. What will you do if the man, Nahum Kurman, kills your son? What is the judge going to do? This man will murder again. Are you the group or the committee for the rights of the child? You should judge this man, Nahum Kurman. I’m a child. I like peace between Israel and Palestine, and no children killed.
Dear sir, did you hear about the story of Hilmi Shusha? Did you hear what happened? This child was killed by an arrogant officer, Nahum kurman. He deserves to be hung for his doing. The right of the child is to protect a child in times of war, but to expose a child to harm we have to punish the person who committed this murder. Israel never commits to the laws. It has to be punished for betraying the laws of the right of the child.
I am a child from Jordan. I was very much touched by the death of the child Hilmi Shousha, the innocent child. I protest very strongly because of the Israelis control and they kill anybody. They are murderers. I want you to understand the situation. Imagine if this was your child or your children. Israel is the one who killed him and it doesn’t effect it. You sir, never oppose this. Israel never respects rights of the child and hope you will understand my situation.
I felt very sad when I heard about Hilmi Shusha . Did you read about it? When Hilmi Shusha was walking with his two friends and the security officer Nahum Kurman hit Hilmi and killed him why does he do that? The people of Palestine know that this is not right, that Israelis would treat children this way. I felt very sad. You have to punish this person.
