   Impressions of Palestinian Women

My name is Najwa Kawar Farah, a Palestinian born in Nazareth.  I had been contributing to

periodicals, and daily papers as a free lancer in more than one Arab country, but mainly in

Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon as well as to Arab broadcasting stations, and the Arabic

Section of the BBC. While in Israel I published in Arabic, few of my books. From1965-1976

I lived with my family on the West Bank where I wrote in a daily newspaper and contributed

to the Hashemite Broadcasting Station. In 1976 we were transferred to Beirut, Lebanon,

where I managed with great difficulty, to publish few of my stories and novellas, due to the

war situation. Later in London, England, where we lived from 1986- 1996, I was one of the

main contributors to an Arabic magazine (Banat Hawaa) which dealt with women’s issues

and was one of it’s editors for few years. Also I contributed to Christians Aware

Publications. Most of my work is in the field of the short story, novels, children’s stories,

poetic prose, and plays. Also I wrote editorials and spoke on social issues especially

those pertaining to human rights. While we became Canadian landed immigrants since

1990 we got permission to resume our work in the U.K. but we are now since 1997

permanent residents.
